Although second to China in terms of population, India's diaspora is the largest in the world at 16 million people. Of that, almost 4 million live in the United States. Today, they are the top recipients of temporary high-skilled worker visas and are more likely to be higher educated, be employed, and earn a higher income that other foreign-born populations.

Over 15.5 million Indians live outside the country, a number greater than the combined populations of Zimbabwe and Kuwait. China Shrimp Market Up, Will Import More

The US and Japan were traditionally the largest importers of shrimp, but China is importing larger quantities of the shellfish than ever before. Consumption has more than doubled since 2005. Over a decade ago, China was consuming around 700,000 tons each year.
As of 2016, Chinese consumers are eating 1.7 million tons of shrimp annually. This is a massive increase – in the region of 123% compared with 2005’s levels. Over the past five years consumption of shrimp has risen 60%.
China itself is a shrimp producer and exporter, the world’s largest in fact, yet, as with many seafood varieties, domestic demand cannot keep up with rising consumption levels. Subsequently, imports of shrimp products, including white leg, black tiger and processed shrimp, are growing in volume and value.
During the first half of 2016, China imported 68% more shrimp compared with the same period in 2015. 32,000 tons of the crustacean made its way to China during this period. Subsequently, greater demand has led …

Middle class growing boost salmon demand in China

China may soon become an even bigger customer for Alaska salmon, and not just the bright red fillets. Since 2011 when it zoomed past Japan, China has purchased more Alaska seafood than any nation, with purchases nearing $800 million — some 54 percent of all Alaska exports are sent to China.
In Chinese culture, fish symbolize abundance and prosperity. A growing middle class now earns the equivalent of about $25,000 in U.S. dollars annually, giving buyers disposable income to spend on such high-end food as salmon. Add in increasing public concerns about food safety and pollution, and it means Alaska is poised to send even more salmon to China.
A photo-filled Alaska Sea Grant report — called Consumer Preference and Market Potential for Alaska Salmon in China — gives a glimpse of that potential in a country with 1.4 billion people. Researchers from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and Purdue University spent more than three months surveying some 1,000 urban supermarket shoppers in Beij…

China Need To Imports More Salmon

China’s growing demand for salmon has been happening across the last decade – even after a clash with Norway that resulted in the Scandinavian country’s produce banned from Chinese export

Individual levels can show how more Chinese consumers are eating salmon. Take a look at Scotland’s China-bound salmon exports. In 2009, just 5 tonnes of Atlantic salmon was shipped to China from Scottish producers.
Flash forward to 2013, and that figure has risen to 9,709 tons – an colossal increase of 194,080 percent.
Individual provinces from chief salmon supplying countries are also exporting more. Salmon farmers in the Los Lagos region of Chile, China’s biggest supplier of Atlantic salmon, has seen a 73.9 percent rise in their exports on the Chinese market.
The story is much the same throughout the world. Chile has bumped up its export levels, experiencing a 72 percent year-on-year rise in Chinese salmon exports between January-July 2016. These exports came to a total of 31,000 tons.

In the two months of early 2017, Indonesia’s textile and textile product (TTP) export have touched United States (US)$2 billion, or up by 3% compared to the same period in the previous year.
"The TTP industry, which is also an export-oriented labor-intensive sector, can be a social safety net because it employs a lot of workforce, up to now, estimated at three million workers," said Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Industry on Monday (4/24).
The Ministry of Industry noted that TTP industry’s investment value in 2016 reached IDR7.54 trillion, with a significant foreign exchange gain from the export value of $11.87 billion, as well as employing as much as 17.03% of the total workforce in the manufacturing industry.
According to Airlangga, the national textile industry industry during the last three years has experienced a contraction in growth, one of which is driven by new investments and factory expansion in order to increase production capacity, one of which is Sritex.

The Indonesian government is hopeful that Indonesia's export share in the world market will increase from 1.8 percent currently to 4 or 5 percent in the next 10 years. The MOI has committed to keeping up its support of the Indonesian textile industry through fiscal incentives to help the industry stay competitive on the global market.
